Starting again

Although I’ve taken time away from photography, my work has continued to reach incredible milestones that I’m truly proud of. I’ve had my images featured in publications including Dogs Today Magazine, where one of my photographs was selected for the cover of Issue 369, a moment that meant a huge amount to me both personally and professionally. I was also honoured to photograph Crufts 2026 as an official photographer, capturing some of the world’s best dogs at one of the most prestigious canine events. Alongside this, my work has been recognised by platforms such as Animal Planet, helping me share my passion for pet photography with a wider audience. These opportunities have reinforced my dedication to creating high-quality, meaningful images and continue to inspire the work I produce today.

Taking a Step Back Without Giving Up

I’ve always been quite open about my struggles. It’s part of who I am, and I don’t believe in pretending everything is perfect when it isn’t. So it probably comes as no surprise that over the past few years, I’ve taken several long breaks from my photography.

From the outside, it might have looked like I’d stepped away from being a pet photographer, but the reality was very different. Life simply threw more at me than I expected. There were challenges that needed my full attention, things that couldn’t be ignored, and moments where picking up a camera just wasn’t possible.

Photography has always been more than just a job to me. It’s something I feel deeply connected to. But when you’re dealing with personal struggles, even the things you love most can feel out of reach for a while. And that’s okay.

I’ve learned that stepping back doesn’t mean giving up. Sometimes it means protecting your passion so you can come back to it stronger.

When Life Doesn’t Follow a Timeline

I’ve always been someone who likes structure. I set timelines, I stick to goals, and I give everything my full energy. But life doesn’t always follow a plan, and that’s something I’ve had to learn the hard way.

There were times I felt frustrated for not putting myself out there more as a dog photographer in the West Midlands. Times where I questioned whether I should be doing more, showing up more, pushing harder. But deep down, I knew I needed that time. Not just physically, but mentally too. Because creativity doesn’t thrive under pressure. It thrives when you give it space.

A Quiet Build of Motivation

Through every challenge, something else was building in the background. Motivation. Not the loud kind. Not the instant “I’m back” moment. But something slower, steadier, and more meaningful. The kind that grows quietly until one day you realise you’re ready again. Ready to create. Ready to connect. Ready to step back into something you love with a completely new perspective. That’s exactly where I am now.

Returning Stronger Than Ever

I’ve made the decision to come back to photography, properly this time. Fully committed, and more passionate than ever. This new chapter isn’t about rushing or overwhelming myself. It’s about building something sustainable, something I’m proud of, and something that allows me to keep doing what I love long-term. And with that, I’m so excited to be offering professional dog photography sessions in Wolverhampton, the West Midlands, and surrounding areas (including some of Wales).

Why Pet Photography Means So Much to Me

Pet photography, especially dog photography, is about so much more than just getting a nice picture. It’s about capturing personality.

The small things:

  • The way your dog looks at you

  • Their energy when they’re running free

  • Their calm moments

  • Their quirks that only you truly notice

These moments don’t last forever. That’s what makes them so important.

And going through my own struggles has made me appreciate that even more.

Being trusted to capture that bond between you and your pet is something I never take lightly. Every pet photoshoot is a chance to create something meaningful. Something that will still matter years from now.

Upgraded Equipment, Even Better Results

During my time away, I didn’t stop growing.

Behind the scenes, I’ve invested heavily in upgrading my photography kit and editing setup. From my camera gear to my computer, everything has been improved to make my workflow smoother and more efficient.

But more importantly, it allows me to deliver:

  • Sharper images

  • Higher quality edits

  • More detailed, professional results

The difference in quality is something I’m incredibly proud of, and I can’t wait for you to see it.

A Relaxed, Natural Approach to Dog Photography

No matter how much the technical side improves, the heart of my work stays the same. Natural, honest, emotive pet photography. I don’t believe in forcing poses or making dogs do things that don’t feel right. Every dog is different, and that’s exactly how it should be. Some are full of energy, some are calm and observant and some need time to warm up. My job is to adapt to them, to create a relaxed environment where they can just be themselves, because that’s where the best photos happen.

More Than Just Photos

For me, this isn’t just about taking pictures. It’s about creating something you can hold onto. Photos that remind you of a moment in time, images that capture your dog exactly as they are and images that mean something. Because at the end of the day, pet photography is about memories.
